Zane Miller

Zane Franklin Miller, 86, of New Troy passed away peacefully Sunday, November 15, 2015 at home.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 20, 2015 at St. Agnes Church, 5760 Sawyer Road, Sawyer. Military rites and burial will be at New Troy Cemetery. Friends may meet with the family from 6 - 8 PM Thursday, at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice at Home, 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, MI 49085 or American Lung Association, 1475 E. 12 Mile Road, Madison Heights, MI 48071.

Zane was born at home on January 28, 1929 in Galien, MI the son of the late Floyd and Emma (Krieger) Miller. He married Irene Pfauth on November 28, 1959 and they shared 55 wonderful years together. Irene preceded him in death on March 20, 2015. Zane worked at the New Troy Flour Mill for many years, along with other various jobs before ultimately becoming Postmaster at New Troy and then retiring from the post office in Sawyer. He served his country in the Army and was stationed for part of his service in Alaska. Family was very important to him and he was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren. He could always be found at the kitchen table doing his jigsaw puzzles and puzzle books, or watching the antics of the squirrels and birds. He enjoyed watching college basketball games especially when they involved Michigan State. Zane and Irene loved to travel many miles up and down back country roads together. He was a wonderful role model, deeply loved and will be missed forever.

He is survived by their nine children: Christopher (Joy) Miller of New Troy, Ellen (Michael) Seidler of St. Joseph, Elaine (Lon) Edgecomb of Bridgman, Amy Miller of St. Joseph, Kathy (Jim) Poschke of Bridgman, Jennifer Lynn Lockman of Galien, Carol (Kirk) Rasmussen of Fennville, Mary Miller of Buchanan, and Paul Miller (Sandi Bowman) of Buchanan. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren: Rick, Emily (David) Kenyon, Katherine and Joseph Seidler, Jacob and Sarah Edgecomb, Allison and Adam Poschke, Henry, Grace and Amelia Lockman, Seth, Barbara, Jared, Helen, Vivian, Claudia, Noah and Valerie Rasmussen, and Carolyn and Patrick Lavery; a sister Arlene Ender and a brother Leon Miller.

Zane was also preceded in death by brothers Dean and Dale; and a sister Louise Coyle.
