William (Bill) John Menser, 75, of Bridgman passed away Saturday April 3rd, 2010 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph.
For 37 years he resided at “Hickory Hill,” a loving home he and his wife Char built in Baroda, MI. Within the town of Baroda, Bill is most known for founding Colonial Die Corporation.
Bill is survived by his wife of 54 years, Charlene “Char” Menser, his son Peter Drew (Eileen) Menser, his daughters Dion Menser and Doren (Glenard) Ratcliff, his grandson Peter Menser II, and his granddaughter Erin (Roy) Robertson III. Bill was preceded in death by his father Peter Menser, his mother Alma Hardy, and brothers Raymond Menser and Steve Hardy.
Bill will be remembered fondly for many years. He was a man of vision and courage, whose involvement in family and community is immeasurable. Throughout his life, Bill enjoyed golfing, working with stained glass, feeding wildlife, and watching younger family members experience life. Bill was a pleasant man and often smiling. He was a role model who encouraged education, hard work, and integrity.
As a 36 year Charter member of the Lakeshore Rotary Club, Bill was a Paul Harris Fellow, 2nd President of the Lakeshore Rotary Club, District Governor. He participated in community projects and was instrumental in raising funds for the Rotary Polio Plus Project, helping eradicate Polio throughout the world. Bill was a 20 year member of the Point O’Woods Golf and Country Club and Chairman of the Western Amateur for 5 years.
Funeral services will be held 10 AM Thursday, April 8 at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman. Burial will be in Ruggles Cemetery, Baroda. Friends may visit with family from 6-8 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Michigan Parkinson’s Association or Lakeland Hospice.
When a life ends, the relationship doesn’t. Bill’s family encourages everyone to celebrate their own life, as we are celebrating his.
