Virginia Fillmore

Virginia Esther (Tillstrom, Snyder) Fillmore died on August 21, 2011 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph, MI at age 99. She was born on May 7th, 1912 in Denton MI, to Carl and Minnie (Wharton) Tillstrom.

She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great Great Grandmother. She was loved by everyone who knew her…she always had a smile on her face and always had a kind word for everyone. She was an excellent seamstress and used to teach sewing lessons for the Singer Sewing Company. When her children were growing up, she sewed many of their clothes, and to make extra money she would knit baby sweaters and booties which were sold to a store in downtown Benton Harbor. Anyone who had a baby always received from her, a famous set of her “Bumper Booties”. She was a hard worker and she taught her children to be hard workers also. Additionally, she taught her children to be honest in all things. Most importantly she taught her children to love our Creator, Jehovah God. She was married for 29 years to Jack Snyder and then to Charles Fillmore for 49 years, who preceded her in death in March, 2011.

She leaves behind her children, Jacqueline Emhoff of Watervliet, MI.; Mary Lou Blouin of Carson, WA.; Sharyn (Mike) Jackson of Tomball, TX.; Kathy (Keith) Crowder of Coloma, MI.; Half sister Frances (Cliff) Voice of Traverse City, MI.; Daughter-in-law Karen Snyder of Watervliet, MI; 16 Grandchildren, many Great Grandchildren and many Great Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter Sandra Jean Snyder, Son Donald Snyder, Half sister Ruth (Tillstrom) Hallman and Step Mother Mary Tillstrom.
