Vernon Doyle Stanard

Vernon Doyle Stanard, 99, of Bridgman, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at Peaceful Manor in Livonia, Michigan.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman, MI 49106, with Reverend Derek Cromwell officiating. Friends may meet with the family from 10-11 AM on Thursday at the funeral home, prior to the service. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Bridgman. Vernon was born on March 4, 1925 in Bridgman the son of the late Lewis and Julia (Ratz) Stanard. He served in the US Navy during WWII and was a member of the Bridgman American Legion Post 331. He was married to the former Barbara Hojda and she preceded him in death on January 14, 2014 after 65 years of marriage. Vernon was an independent flooring contractor. He loved the Upper Peninsula and fishing.

Survivors include his sons: Chris Stanard and Robert Sommerfield; two granddaughters: Julie and her husband Rob, Kimberly and her husband Brian; and two great grandchildren: Jacob and Savannah.

Vernon was also preceded in death by his siblings: Dale, Boyd, Dean, Dan and Irene.

Arrangements are entrusted to Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman.
