Thelma Blake

Thelma Lucille Blake, 82 of Bridgman passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Woodland Terrace, Bridgman.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM, Monday, March 12, 2018 at Woodland Shores Baptist Church 3555 Shawnee Road, Bridgman MI 49106. Friend may meet with the family 10 am Monday at the church prior to the service. Memorial contributions can be made to Woodland Shores Baptist Church, youth missions.

Thelma was born March 3, 1935 in Oakland, California, the daughter of the late Donald and Nellie (Oldfield) Barnes. On November 3, 1956 she married Richard Blake. She was a member of Woodland Shores Baptist Church.

Known for her friendly nature and pure spirit Thelma served the community as a Registered Nurse, in the San Francisco Bay area, a faithful volunteer in church ministry, all while being a devoted mother and loving wife. Her faith and love for people was evident: she never met a stranger. Thelma used her nursing skills as a team member on short-term mission trips, to Russia, Romania, and Mexico affecting lives wherever she went.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years: Richard; sons: Rick (Holly) Blake, Kenneth Blake, James (Irma) Blake and Robert (Leslie) Blake; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
