BRIDGMAN - Thaddeus Surma, 81, of Bridgman passed away on December 7, 2011 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2011 from 2 - 4 PM EST at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman, MI where a Rosary will be prayed at 4 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM EST on Monday, December 12, 2011 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 3903 Lake Street, Bridgman, with Father Arthur Howard as Celebrant. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, Bridgman. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church or Berrien County Cancer Service.

Thaddeus was born July 23, 1930 in Chicago, IL., the son of the late Stanley & Anna Surma. He served in the Army as a Second Sergeant and received the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Ribbon, and the United Nations Service Medal. He was a manager and chef at Surma’s Restaurant in Chicago.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years - Dorothea; sister - Amelia (Joseph) Sadowski of Crete, IL.

Thaddeus was preceded in death by brothers - John (Grace), Steve (Estelle), Joseph (Margaret), Walter (Sabina); and a sister - Stella (Chester) Zajack.
