Sunshine “Sunnie” Elaine Perigen, 32, of Buchanan passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph.
Funeral services will be held 1 PM Saturday, July 18, at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman with Rev. Jim Whitman officiating. Friends may meet with the family from 6-8 PM Friday at the funeral home. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be given in memory of Sunshine for the educational needs of her chldren.
Sunnie was born December 5, 1976 in Valparaiso, Indiana the daughter of Johnny and Debra (Kutch) Nix. On October 30, 2004 she married James Perigen. She was Store Manager at Rite Aid in Buchanan. Sunnie was a creative artist and enjoyed photography. She had a deep love for animals. Sunnie should be remembered as a fun-loving person who had a great love for her children and family.
Survivors include her husband, James “Flubba”; three children – Reeves Taylor, Ridge Taylor and Raydon Taylor all of Bridgman; her mother and step-father, Debra and Mark DeBiak of Bridgman; her grandfather, Jerome “Lefty” Jarka of Michigan City, two brothers – Christopher (Tracy) Bell of Benton Harbor and Johnny Nix, Jr. of Cannon City, Colorado; a sister, Julia (Richard) Abbatoy of St. Joseph; and many nieces and nephews.
Sunnie was preceded in death by her father, Johnny Nix, in February of 1984.
