Shirley Somora

Shirley Delores Somora, 82, of Baroda passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at her home.

Celebration of Life will be held 10 AM Saturday, August 18, 2018 at The Boyd Chapel of Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman. Friends may meet with the family on Saturday from 9 AM until the time of the service. Burial will be in Ruggles Cemetery, Baroda. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Public Television WNIT, 300 W. Jefferson Blvd. South Bend, Indiana 46601.

Shirley was born Monday, March 9, 1936 in Parrottsville, Tennessee the daughter of the late Homer and Gladys (Henry) Beaver. In November 1962, Shirley married Samuel Somora, Jr. who preceeded her in death August 28, 2011. She owned and operated with her husband, “Sam Sunshine Perennials” for many years in Baroda, where they made many new friends and helped landscape their homes & gardens. Shirley loved Baroda, the village and all of her neighbors. She felt fortunate to have such good caretakers and loved her Baroda family. She attended Wayne State University of Michigan.

Survivors included her brothers: Fred (Joan) Beaver; Rudy (Mary) Beaver and many nieces and nephews, faithful K9 companion Oreo.

Shirley was also preceded in death by her brother William Beaver.
