Sherry Nimtz

Sherry Lynn (Harrell) Nimtz, 63, Cubby to those who knew her, resident of Berrien Springs Michigan passed peacefully, January 25, 2022, at Spectrum Health Lakeland St. Joseph surrounded by family.

Arriving December 24, 1958, to Vernon (Mick) and Nancy Harrell, she was a true Christmas gift as their first-born of four children:  Sherry, Gregg, Tracy, and Jill. Cubby was a colorful and vibrant personality who adored anything that sparkled.  In her youth she engaged in sports, cheerleading and cherished the time with her many friends. Her college training opened the door to a career at Cook Nuclear plant. There she worked her entire career and met John Nimtz. She and John married in June of 1999. Sherry and John’s families shared many hobbies over the years including boating, jet skiing and motorcycles. Sherry had recently worked very hard to become skilled in fluid art and resin. Animals in need, especially doggies, held a special place in Cubby’s heart.  She rescued over a dozen during her lifetime, providing them all a loving home.

Cubby is survived by her husband John, her mother Nancy Cole, who passed away three days later on January 28, 2022; her stepdaughter Kayte Salvagni, (Richard) and their two children; her stepson Zack Nimtz (Libby) and their three children; her brother Gregg (Heidi) and his two children and their four children; and her sister Jill. She was preceded in death by her brother, Tracy, and her father, Mick. Though we will miss her, we are assured through her faith that Cubby is in the arms of the Lord.
