Sanae Ackerman

Sanae Ackerman, beloved wife of Carl, mother of Tom, Jack, and Janice, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 88, surrounded by her loving family. She was married to her devoted husband for 55 beautiful years, during which they created a lifetime of cherished memories together.

Sanae was the proud mother of two sons, Tom and Jack, as well as her daughter, Janice, who will forever carry her legacy in her heart. She was also the loving grandmother of Tommy, Matthew, Lee, Aiden, and Jett, and the doting great grandmother of Stella.

Born in Japan as Sanae Furusho, she had three sisters and always maintained an adventurous spirit and a heart full of kindness. Her hobbies included professional Japanese dance and travel, passions that brought her immense joy. Sanae and her husband, Carl, owned the Getaway Saloon, now the Getaway Cubbie Grille, since 1983. She dedicated her life to nurturing her family, instilling values of compassion and resilience in her children. Sanae’s home was adorned with Japanese trinkets and filled with the aromas of delicious Japanese dishes that she delighted her family with.

Her strength and grace have left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her. She was not just a family matriarch but a friend to many, offering guidance and support whenever needed. Sanae’s sense of humor and zest for life will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.

A celebration of life is planned for next spring. Friends and family are also invited to join a get-together at the Getaway Cubbie Grille, 9489 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 1 PM.
