Samuel Carl Scott, Jr., 69, of Baroda passed away on Friday, August 6, 2010 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM Tuesday, August 10 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Bridgman, with Father Arthur Howard as Celebrant. Burial will be in Ruggles Cemetery, Baroda. Friends may meet with the family on Monday from 6-9 PM at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be given to Berrien County Cancer Service.
Sam was born May 5, 1941 in Waverly, Tennessee the son of the late Samuel and Bessie (Pruett) Scott, Sr. On January 26, 1963 he married the former Shirley Watt of Chicago. Together Sam and Shirley owned and operated Scott’s Moving and Storage for more then 30 years in Sodus and South Bend. He enjoyed being with family and friends. He especially enjoyed spending time with the grand kids and was grateful that he was able to take his grand kids fishing in Tennessee this past June. Sam liked being outdoors, gardening, hunting and fishing..
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Shirley; three children – Samuel C. Scott III of Bridgman, Sherry Scott of Baroda, and Sandra (Steve) Petznick of Stevensville; eight grandchildren – Shannon, Crystal, Kathryn, and Kaleigh Scott, Jenna, Justin, and Jacob Boelcke, and Nathan Scott Petznick; three great grandchildren – Jaylin, Carmen, and Layla Scott; and two sisters – Betty Crenshaw and Emma Darlene Forde both of Baroda.
Sam was also preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Rita Scott, on May 7, 2010; a brother, Thomas Scott; and two sisters – Thelma Butler and Gladys McDonald.
