Ruth Ehlert

Ruth Caroline Ehlert, 96, of Franklin, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 29, 2021 at The Fountains of Franklin.

Ruth was born on September 27, 1925 in Baroda, the daughter of the late Herbert and Elsie (Geike) Zordel. She graduated from Baroda High School and on September 13, 1947, she married Duane Ehlert, also of Baroda. Ruth and Duane were married 72 years and raised two daughters. They lived for 37 years in Baroda. Their path then led to Medinah, Illinois, Charlotte, North Carolina and finally Franklin, Tennessee. Ruth worked at Clark Equipment Company, Beeline Clothing Company and Allstate Insurance. After retiring, Ruth and Duane traveled extensively through the United States and Europe. Ruth enjoyed baking sweets, cross stitching, her piano, helping with her grandchildren and donuts with her great-grandchildren on Saturday mornings.

Survivors include her sister Carol Ackerman; daughters: Kathleen (Douglas) Olsen and Kristine (Brian) Wilson; grandchildren: Bryon, Eric, Todd, Derek, Elissa and Kyle; and great grandchildren: Brennon, Braden, Owen, Liam, Easton, Jase and Emmett.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband: Duane Ehlert; and her brothers: Leon Zordel and Ronald Zordel.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 13, 2021 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 9193 Cleveland Avenue, Baroda, with Reverend Joan Oleson, officiating. Burial will be at Ruggles Cemetery, Baroda. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral. A lunch will be served at the church following the cemetery.
