Roseanna Murphy

Roseanna was born September 1, 1918 in Chicago, the daughter of the late Kasmir and Mary (Ducha) Likavec. She resided in Southwestern Michigan most of her life devoting her time to raising her family and helping others. She was a lifelong member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bridgman. She was the president of the Altar Society and Church Choir. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at St. Pius Catholic Church in Chicago. On April 30, 1938 she married John L. Murphy and he preceded her in death on February 26, 1998. Roseanna was a humble, giving, kind and loyal person who valued the love of her friends and family. She was an excellent baker and taught many how to make apple slices and perigos. She had an excellent sense of humor and maintained interest in the garden. She loved flowers and playing cards. She also kept up with current events right up to the time of her death. She leaves behind a legacy of love and a full life. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survived By two sons – Patrick (Cathy) Murphy of Anaheim, California and John (Jean) Murphy of Bridgman; five grandchildren – Kathryn (Max) Allen of Benton Harbor, Brian (Kelly) Murphy, Jennifer (Bob) Herrera, John (Kathy) Murphy, and Michael (Michelle) Murphy; seven great grandchildren – Sean Murphy, Monique, Brianna, and Max Allen IV, Savannah Murphy, Christopher and Claire Herrera; a sister-in-law, Adeline (Arnold) Gaul of Stevensville; and many good friends who helped her live independently. Preceded in Death By a son, Michael Murphy on August 21, 1964; four brothers – Edward, Joseph, Frank and Peter Likavec; and a sister, Elsie Likavec.
