Rose Marie Zielke was born November 26, 1934. At the age of 10 she was adopted and raised by Elmer and Hilder Nelson in Sawyer, Michigan. Rose graduated from New Troy High School in 1953 and shortly after, married the love of her life, Allen Zielke. She then lived on the family farm always involved in gardening and feeding the animals, gathering eggs, canning and freezing vegetables and meat. There is where they had their five children. During the time of raising her children, she loved working in the public eye. She was employed as a waitress at Sigurds Red Arrow until they closed then working for 25 years at Hyderdalls in Bridgman where she was known by all as “Rosie”. She would have customers driving from Chicago asking for her to be their server. When that venue closed, she enjoyed listening to Elvis, watching Wheel of Fortune, bus trips to Chicago, shopping sales at Carsons, putting out her garden of home grown vegetables and working in her flowers. Rose enjoyed following the Chicago Cubs and the University of Michigan. There was just no keeping her down, always busy. A special thank you to the staff of Woodland Terrace, Bridgman and Hospice at Home.
Surviving are her children; Sandy (Bob) Jackson of Niles, Linda (Buzz) Ott of Bridgman, Gerald Zielke, and Steve Zielke, both of Galien. 6 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her husband Allen, daughter Deborah, parents Elmer and Hilder Nelson, a sister Shirley Nelson and brother Richard Nelson.
Arrangements are entrusted to Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman.
