Rose Schlutt

Rose Mae Schlutt, 87, of St. Joseph, and formerly of Buchanan, passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Jordan’s Life Care Center, Bridgman.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, June 2 at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman with Rev. Terrill M. Schneider officiating. Burial will be in Ruggles Cemetery, Baroda. Friends may meet with the family on Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be given to Scottdale United Methodist Church of St. Joseph.

Rose was born August 19, 1922 in St. Joseph to Charles and Lillian (Miltaberger) Wagner. She had many fond memories of growing up on Hollywood Rd. and attending Hollywood School with her sister and brother. Rose married Nelson H. Schlutt in 1945. Together they raised three sons and worked hard for over 50 years on the family farm in Buchanan. She enjoyed gardening, cooking for holiday occasions, playing cards, and entertaining family and friends. She always had a great sense of humor when dealing with everyday life and loved to have people around her laugh. Rose sold Stanley Home Products for about 45 years and many of her customers fondly remember her. Many who knew her enjoyed her company and hospitality. She always volunteered for the many luncheons and breakfasts held at Scottdale United Methodist Church.

Rose is survived by her sons – William (Sharon) Schlutt of Baroda, Robert (Joyce) Schlutt of Bridgman, and her daughter-in-law, Cathy (Steve) Bunn of Eau Claire. Rose is also survived by a sister, Helen Petrosius of St. Joseph; five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson; a brother, George Wagner; her son, Emil Bruder; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Schlutt.
