Robert Widdis

Robert “Bob” Paul Widdis, 74, of Baroda, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family and friends.

A funeral service will be held 11 AM Monday, July 16, 2018 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 9193 Cleveland Avenue, Baroda, with the Reverend Nan Dehnke officiating. Friends may meet with the family from 2 - 5 PM on Sunday at the Boyd Chapel of Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Bridgman. Memorial contributions may be given to St. John’s Lutheran Church, PO Box 67, Baroda, MI 49101 or Berrien County Cancer Service, 7301 Red Arrow Highway, Stevensville, MI 49127.

Bob was born Sunday, September 26, 1943 in LaPorte, IN the son of the late Harold and Mary (Kandupa) Widdis. Bob lived on the same 40 plus acres all his life only leaving to serve our country in the Michigan National Guard after graduating from New Troy High School in 1961. He married Caroline Klug on December 14, 1963 in Sodus. This union was blessed with two children and three grandchildren. Bob went into business with his father and his brother-in-law Larry Klug to form HFS Tractor Sales & Service in Baroda. They later opened a second store in Niles. Bob credits his love of business to Chet and Bill Nichols where he worked for them for over a decade.

He had a passion for serving others as a charter member and past president of the Baroda Lions Club; past president of the Ohio Michigan Dealers Association; past president of the Kubota Dealers Council; and teaching youth tractor safety through Berrien County 4H for 30 plus years. He was a member of American Legion Post 345 in Baroda and St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Bob is survived by his wife of 54 years: Caroline; son Rick (Angela) Widdis; daughter Tina (Dave) Cramton; grandchildren: Isabel Widdis, Tyler and Jenna Cramton; brothers-in-law: Ed (Geri) Klug, Larry (Beth) Klug, Mick (Cindy) Klug; sisters-in-law: Dorothy Thar, Pam (Dale) Evans, Susan Widdis; and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was also preceded in death by his brother Russell Widdis.
