Robert Svorec

Robert Jerold Svorec, 55, of Bridgman, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 15, 2014 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph following a brief battle with cancer.

Bob was born May 8, 1958 in St. Joseph and was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Bridgman. His confirmation Bible passage became his favorite verse. “Commit thy way to the Lord, trust also in Him and He shall bring it to pass.” Bob’s Christian education continued at Immanuel Lutheran School in Bridgman until moving with his parents and sister to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He graduated from Our Father’s Lutheran School and Martin Luther High School in 1977.

In 1978 he moved with his parents to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida living near his sister and husband, Pat & Jeff Wittcop. A move back to Bridgman in 1983 brought employment at Leco Corporation, St. Joseph, and then Elkhart Plating Company in Indiana. He enjoyed family get-togethers and reunions on his dad and mom’s side, the Svorec’s, Krieger’s and Stelter families. He enjoyed flying remote control planes with the Whirlwind. He flew Ultra-Lights planes with the Bill Wolverton Barfing Dogs group and becoming flight instructor. Bob had a four acre hobby farm where he gardened and at harvest shared God’s plenty with many. Bob was always a student of learning and knowledge by gleaning information from family, computer, and numerous nursery magazines and journals.

Survivors include his parents - Jerold and Mary Lou (nee’ Stelter) Svorec; sister - Patricia Ann (Jeff) Wittcop; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service is being planned for the summer.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
