Robert Kemp

Robert “Bob” Joseph Kemp, 70, of Buchanan passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at his home.

Funeral services will be held 10 AM Wednesday, January 6 at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman with Pastor Ralph Schultz officiating. Burial will be in New Troy Cemetery. Friends may meet with the family from 6-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be given to the needs of the family.

Mr. Kemp was born January 16, 1939 in Portland, Tennessee the son of the late James and Belle (Magee) Kemp. Together with his son, he owned and operated R & B Auto in Berrien Springs.

Survivors include his significant other and best friend, Clara Schutz; six children – Robert Dean (Connie) Kemp of Berrien Springs, David Lee (Angie) Kemp of Three Rivers, Donald Ray (Barbara) Kemp of Three Rivers, Stella Reynolds of Arizona, Jack (Sharon) Schutz of Arizona, and Wesley (Crystal) Schutz of Watervliet; 17 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; three sisters – Shirley Holt, Carrie (Ray) Holt, and Carolyn (Gordon) McFarlane; and one brother, Richard (Lana) Kemp.

Bob was preceded in death by a son, James Lee Schutz in 1995; and eight brothers and sisters.
