Rickie Schmaltz

Rickie Allen Schmaltz, 62 of Sawyer passed away unexpectedly Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 2-5 PM at D’Agostino’s Navajo Restaurant, 8970 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman.

Rickie was born May 4, 1955 in South Bend the son of the late Roy Edward and Vera Mae (Swank) Schmaltz. On October 3, 1975 he married Donna Lee Perigen. He worked for Stanley Knight for over 26 years and most recently at Shepherd Casters, St. Joseph.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years: Donna; daughter: Sara (Joe Rhew) Morrow; son: Rickie Schmaltz, Jr.; two grandsons: Kyle and Mathew Morrow; grandma Mary Schmaltz; sisters: Sharon (Michael) Richter, Cathi (Ernest) Espalin and Peggy Marks. Survivors also include James “Flubba” Perigen, Tooty and Alice Jean.

Rickie was preceded in death by a brother: Roy Schmaltz.
