Richard “Rick” Edward Widdis, 49, of Baroda was unexpectedly called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 28, 2021.
A funeral service will be held 11 AM Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman , with the Reverend Rich Zieger officiating. Friends may meet with the family from 5 - 7 PM on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Bridgman. Rick was born Friday, February 5, 1971 in St. Joseph the son of Robert “Bob” Paul and Caroline Ann (Klug) Widdis. He graduated from Bridgman High School in 1989 and attended Lake Michigan College. He had a life long career in tractor sales at his family’s business, H.F.S Tractor Sales and Service and continued with Asura Kubota after the family business was sold.
He met the love of his life, Angela Dee McVay from Watervliet, in 1988 and they were married in 1993, sharing 27 years of marriage together. From this union they had their pride and joy, Isabel DeeAnn.
Rick was a quiet man, that had high integrity and honor. He had a love for reading, history, traveling, and spending time gardening. As a family the Widdis’ operated a farm stand called Widdis Gardens and Gifts that kept them busy throughout the spring and summer.
Rick was named one of the 2020 Outstanding 4-H Leaders for his role in running the Tractor Operators Program through the Berrien County 4-H Youth Development Program. Rick started as a leader teaching with his father over 27 years ago.
Rick was known for his service to his fellow man. He enjoyed serving others through his work with the Baroda Lions Club.
Rick is survived by his wife: Angela; his daughter Isabel; mother: Caroline; sister: Tina (Dave) Cramton and their children, Tyler and Jenna; in-laws Clinton “Boudy” and Debi McVay; brother-in-law: Jason (Brandy) McVay and their son Deklyn; his Godparents: Dorothy Thar and Gary Sommers; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Rick was preceded in death by his father Bob Widdis; grandparents: Harold and Mary Widdis and Edward and Clara Klug.
