Richard Leo Stelter, 79, of Bridgman passed away peacefully on Friday, March 31, 2023 at Hanson Hospice Center of Stevensville.
A funeral service will be held 11 AM Monday, April 10, 2023 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 9650 Church St., Bridgman, MI 49106. Friends may meet with the family from 10-11 AM on Monday at the church, prior to the service. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Bridgman. Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Hospice at Home, 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, MI 49085. Online condolences accepted at www.PikeFH.com.
Richard was born October 7, 1943 in Bridgman, the son of the late Henry and Hulda (Krieger) Stelter. On May 23, 1964, he married Patricia Gaul and they shared 58 years together. Richard was a longtime member at Immanuel Lutheran Church and worked at Whirlpool for 35 years in the engineering department. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and growing vegetables on his farm. He enjoyed watching various sports, especially rooting for the Chicago Cubs. He also enjoyed taking daily walks throughout the farmland.
Survivors include his wife: Patricia; children: Kevin (Barbara) Stelter, Scott (Anna) Stelter, and Tina (Mark) Laminack; grandchildren: Jonathan (Kelly) Stelter, Jennifer (Alex) Sobottke, Alyssa Stelter, Rachel, Austin, and Emma Laminack; siblings: Mary Lou Svorec, Evelyn Basel, Emily (Ed) Kast, and Fr. Leslie Stelter; and brother-in-law: Tom Mooney.
Richard was also preceded in death by siblings: Paul Stelter, Henry Stelter, David Stelter, Elsie Spaulding, Esther Wark, Virginia Mooney, Paulette Irwin, Dorothy Stelter & Martha Stelter; and brother-in-laws: Gerald Svorec and David Wark.
Arrangements are entrusted to Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, The Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman.
