Richard "Rick" Roy Kurbis

Richard “Rick” Roy Kurbis, 73 of Berrien Springs, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023 at his home.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service is being planned for the Spring of 2024. Online condolences accepted at www.PikeFH.com. Memorial contributions may be made to the Berrien County Cancer Service, 3900 Hollywood Road, St. Joseph, MI 49085.

Richard was born October 14, 1950 in Benton Harbor, the son of the late Melvin and Bonnie (Marutz) Kurbis, Sr. Rick play football for the Lakeshore Lancers and was on the All Conference team in 1967. Rick worked at Paramount Die Cast for 25 years. He also worked for 25 years at Premier Tool and Die Corp. in Berrien Springs and retired in 2017. Rick was a history buff and an avid University of Michigan and Miami Dolphin fan. 

Survivors include his sisters: Linda Salverson and Pamela Moore; his brothers: Jay and Duane “Duff” Kurbis; his former wife: Karen Schmaltz and his partner of 20 years Kathryn Fetke. 

Rick was also preceded in death by his brother, Melvin Kurbis, Jr.
