Richard David Reid

Richard David Reid, 79, of Bridgman passed away on Monday, April 3, 2023 after his battle with Alzheimer’s Disease for over 17 years.

A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, The Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman, with Reverend Paul Bischoff officiating. Friends may meet with the family from 12 Noon – 2 PM on Saturday at the funeral home, prior to the service. Following the service there will be a luncheon at Papa Vino’s, St. Joseph. Hospice has helped the care of Richard so he could stay at home and with the help of Mary Dobleski, his caregiver, seven days a week. Richard was born December 27, 1943 in Chicago, the son of the late Richard and Virginia (Van Horn) Reid. Richard, at 20 years old, met Ginny on a Windjammer Cruise on a vacation visiting 10 days in the Caribbean Islands. Richard grew up in the south side of Chicago. After attending Southern Illinois University, he became a dental technician and owned his own laboratory for 34 years. Richard had a strong faith in Jesus Christ. His faith was nurtured at Glen Ellyn Covenant Church. Through his faith, he was a short-term missionary to Jamaica and was a trustee at the church. Richard enjoyed traveling throughout the US and camping along the way. Richard was always game to try anything new through the 58 years of marriage to Ginny. He also enjoyed motorcycling with the boys, photography, playing the guitar and was a talented artist.

Survivors include his wife: Virginia; children: Michael Jon Reid and Denise (Greg) Snook; grandchildren: Madeline, Ben, and Jonathan Snook.  

Richard was also preceded in death by his sister: Nancy Kruger.
