Phyllis Powell

BERRIEN CENTER - Phyllis Martha Powell, 90, of Berrien Center, passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at Lakeland Specialty Hospital in Berrien Center, MI.

Phyllis was born October 14, 1919 in Benton Harbor, MI the daughter of the late Adam and Grace (McGuirk) Knefely. In 1940 she married Glenn “Bill” Powell and together they shared 60 years until his death in November 2000. Phyllis was a volunteer at Lakeland Hospital. She also enjoyed making and repairing porcelain dolls and was a talented seamstress and she made all of the clothes for her five daughters. For mom’s 90th birthday she was asked what she wanted to do. She loved to gamble so we took her to the Boat and had a party with hats and balloons. We had a blast!

Survivors include five children: Sandra Schaub of CA, Glenda Powell of WA, Mary (James) Walters of PA, Susan Reisig of NM, Glenn Powell, Jr. of NY; one brother - Harry Knefely of IN; 14 grandchildren, 24 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter - Karen Marrow, 5 brothers and 1 sister.
