Peter Goodwin Jones

Peter Goodwin Jones, 82 of Bridgman passed away Sunday, August 18, 2024 at Hanson Hospice Center, Stevensville

Peter was born March 23, 1942 in Evanston, Illinois, the son of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Fowler) Jones. He taught at East Carolina University after graduating with a Master of Fine Arts degree from Northern Illinois University. Peter then worked briefly for John Wilson at Lakeside Studios before moving to Chicago where he taught at both the College of DuPage and Loyola University. He opened The Peter Jones Gallery which had a figure drawing workshop, a darkroom, a wood working space, a Black Box theater, and several work spaces rented to artists with a gallery at the front of the loft. He managed this art space for 30 years before retiring and moving to Bridgman with his wife. Peter worked on digital prints in a studio at the Box Factory for the Arts for several years. He shared a love of artwork with his wife, Gwen, for 58 years.

Survivors include his wife: Gwen; two children: Brian and Rebecca; sister: Elizabeth “Betsy” Hayes; nephew: Robert Hayes; niece: Elizabeth “Buzzy” McGraw; great nephew: Robert “Robbie” Hayes; two great nieces: Ann Drew McGraw; and Elizabeth “Libby” Hayes.
