Peggy (Margaret) Schlender passed away on Monday, March 4, 2013 at Woodland Terrace, Bridgman, MI. Her beloved husband, Bill Schlender, was at her side, as were other family members and friends.
Peggy was born Margaret Adelaide Cannon on August 7, 1922 in St. Louis, MO. Her happiest childhood memories were of summers spent with her many aunties and cousins in Indiana. Peggy graduated from the University of Michigan. She was a Kappa Kappa Gamma sister, as was her mother.Peggy and Bill had a life together full of friends, family, travel, and love. She was an avid reader, and generous lender of favorite books.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Estelle and B.B. Cannon, and her brothers Benjamin B. Cannon and George H. Cannon. She is survived by her dear husband, Bill, daughters Nancy Kasella, Sally Krahn, and Binky Krahn, and Grandchildren John and Meg Chevalier. Peggy also leaves behind many friends, deeply loved by her. Sincere thanks go to the devoted staff at Woodland Terrace, to the kind and compassionate caregivers of Hospice at Home, and to Daryl and Greg Schlender, all of whom helped immeasurably in providing for her gentle passing. Godspeed, Peggy. We love you.
According to Peggy’s wishes there will be no funeral or memorial service.
