Peggie Jean Schaffer

Peggie Jean Schaffer, 85, of Sawyer passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at her home.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at Sawyer Trinity Lutheran Church, 5701 Sawyer Rd., Sawyer, MI 49125. Final resting place will be in New Troy Cemetery, New Troy. Friends may meet with the family on Monday, October 7, 2024 from 5-7 PM at Pike Funeral Home, The Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman, MI 49106. Peggie was born on May 2, 1939 in Sawyer the daughter of the late Leslie and Virginia (Keith) Bueghly. On August 8, 1959 she married Gerald “Jerry” Schaffer and he preceded her in death on April 8, 2020. She was a member of Sawyer Trinity Lutheran Church. Peggie loved being the library lady to the children at Trinity Lutheran daycare and supporting all the activities of her children, grandchildren, extended family and friends. She loved flowers and birds and was known for sending personal cards and notes to others.

Survivors include four sons: Gary (Becky) Schaffer, Gregg Schaffer, David (Cathy) Schaffer and Doug (Peggy) Schaffer; grandchildren: Arron (Ana), Josh (Harleigh), Lindsey, Andrew, Micah (Gabbie), Emma, Jenna, and Rylee Schaffer; a great granddaughter soon to arrive; two sisters: Nancy (Matt) Caid and Vickie Metzger; sister-in-law, Ruby Schaffer and brother-in-law, Al Schaffer.

Peggie was also preceded in death by her young sister, Darlene.
