Pearl Catherine Wurtz, 96, of Baroda passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held 10 AM Friday, February 12, 2016 at Zion United Church of Christ, 9100 Church Street in Baroda with Reverend Christopher Noffke officiating. Burial will be in Ruggles Cemetery, Baroda. Friends may meet with the family from 5 - 7 PM Thursday at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice at Home, 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, MI 49085.

Pearl was born April 25, 1919 in St. Joseph, Michigan the daughter of the late Frederick J. and Daisy E. (Strong) Kugle. On November 28, 1939 she married Clayton Verne Wurtz who preceded her in death on October 13, 2009. Pearl loved taking care of her family - especially cooking. She loved babies ! Pearl enjoyed writing poetry expressing her love of life.

Survivors include five children: Jay (Jan) Wurtz of Bridgman, Wendie (Tom) Shafer of Baroda, Marybeth Harmon of Baroda, Gayle (Todd) Herrick of West Olive, and Virginia Watkins of Baroda; a daughter-in-law: Wanetta Wurtz of Baroda; 24 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren; brothers: Vernon, Earl, and Jerold Kugle; and many nieces and nephews.

Pearl was also preceded in death by two sons: Verne Wurtz in 2005 and Clayton “Lee” Wurtz in 2008; two great great grandchildren; sisters: Ellen McNees, Ruby Nye, Ethel Huscher; brothers: Gladwin, and Charles Kugle; and son-in-law: Doug Harmon.
