Melton Clay Pope, Sr. 68, of Bridgman passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at his home.
A gathering and luncheon for family and friends will be held Friday, June 27, 2014 from 4-6 PM at Lake Township Hall, 3220 Shawnee Rd, Bridgman. Memorial contributions may be given to the Bridgman Fire Department, 9765 Maple St, Bridgman or the Bridgman Public Library, 4460 Lake Street, Bridgman.
Melton was born March 12, 1946 in South Bend, Indiana the son of the late Carl and Rose (Downey) Pope. He married Charlotte Lee Gilbert on October 21, 1967. Melton was a union painter and worked most of his career at the D.C. Cook Nuclear Plant, Bridgman.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Charlotte; children - Michelle Anderson of Bridgman, Linda Radtke of Stevensville and Melton Pope, Jr. of Colorado; four grandchildren - Cuyler and Jarret Anderson, Sara and Kaitlyn Radtke; two sisters - Teresa (Grady) Watson of Coloma and Mary Cleary of Benton Harbor; nieces and nephews - Carl (Karey) Watson, Crystal (Brad) Sams, James Pope, Mary Palmer and Junior Cleary.
