Maurice “Skip” Linn, 92, passed away on March 22, 2025 in Bridgman, Michigan. Born in Elkhart, Indiana on November 18, 1932, he was the son of James W. Linn and Elsie Ott.
A memorial service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman, Michigan 49106. Friends may meet with the family from Noon – 1 PM on Saturday at the funeral home, prior to the service. Donations may be made in Skip’s memory to Immanuel Lutheran Child Care, 9650 Church St., Bridgman. Online condolences accepted at www.PikeFH.com.
Skip was the loving husband of 73 years to Norma Linn (née Plummer), whom he married on July 20, 1951. Together, they raised a family that includes children William (Cynthia) Linn, Robert (Sharlene) Linn, Susan (Max Sorensen) Linn, and Vincent (Kelly) Linn. Skip was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, and three step-grandchildren. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jim and Max.
A man with a passion for fishing, Skip passed his love of the sport down through the generations to his children, grandchildren, and beyond. He was known for his expertise, which he shared through his business venture, Linn’s Landing in Bridgman. Skip’s other great love was his unwavering loyalty to the Chicago Cubs and Notre Dame, following both teams throughout his life.
A 1951 graduate of Elkhart High School, Skip’s career as a tool and die maker led him to a fulfilling position at Weldun International in Bridgman, Michigan. His work as a service manager allowed him to travel widely and meet many interesting people. After 30 years of dedicated service, he retired in 1997.
Skip’s love for Michigan, especially the summers spent in the state as a child, led to his dream of relocating his young family to Baroda in 1961, then Bridgman in 1964. There, he continued to build his career and his family’s legacy. A member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Skip’s faith was a cornerstone of his life. In retirement, he and Norma enjoyed homes in Florida, Ludington, and Three Oaks before returning to Bridgman for their final years.
Arrangements are entrusted to Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, The Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman.
