Mary Reck

Mary Jo Reck, 88, of Bridgman passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, January 20, 2012 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 9650 N. Church Street, Bridgman with Reverend Jon Bendewald officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Friends may meet with the family from 6 - 8 PM Thursday at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church or The Bridgman Public Library.

Mary Jo was born August 5, 1923 in Janesville, Wisconsin, the only daughter of the late John and Norah (Kerr) Davey. Mary Jo received her teaching degree from St. Teresa of Winona in MN. She came to Bridgman in the 1940's and spent 40 years teaching students English in the Bridgman and River Valley School Districts. Mary Jo was never a stranger - she was such a giving person. Mary Jo was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who loved to teach. She also enjoyed golf and crossword puzzles. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Survivors include her husband Ervin of over 63 years of marriage; children - Christine Reck of Bloomington, IL, Diane Woodford of St. Joseph; grandchildren - Jason and Katelyn Woodford; two special friends - Marilyn Roth and Sue Tym; many nieces and nephews.

Mary Jo was also preceded in death by her daughter Barbara, and her stillborn brother and sister, Sean Davey and Kathleen Davey.
