Mary L. Nye, 62, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2016 in Kalamazoo, MI.

A memorial service will be held at 12 noon AM Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 9650 N. Church Street, Bridgman with Reverend Jon Bendewald officiating. Friends may meet with the family on Saturday at the church beginning at 10 am until the time of the service. Burial will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek, MI. As an expression of sympathy memorial contributions may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church Day Care, PO Box 26, Bridgman, MI 49106.

Mary was born on September 5, 1953 in Lansing, Michigan, the daughter of the late Raymond and Hazel (Smith) McCarrick. On December 20, 1975, she married Christopher C. Nye. Mary retired after 30 years working for the Michigan Secretary of State in several positions, and retired as the assistant manager of the Benton Harbor office. The past 5 years Mary worked for the Immanuel Lutheran Church’s Day Care Center in Bridgman. She served in the United States Air Force Reserve for ten years.

Survivors include her husband, Christopher C. Nye; son: Bart (Gwen) Nye of Ray Twp., MI; grandson: Geoffrey Nye; siblings: Roseleah Paradis of Clinton Twp., MI, Joan Demorest of Republic, MI, and Sue McCarrick.

Mary was also preceded in death by a son: Jonathan Nye in 1991; and a brother: Herbert McCarrick.
