Mark Ross Hurray

Mark Ross Hurray, 65, of Bridgman, Michigan, passed away on April 12, 2022 after a short illness. Mark was born on April 19, 1956 in Salem, Ohio, the son of the late Dr. Joseph J. Hurray and Helen Ross Hurray. He attended St. Paul School and was a 1974 graduate of Salem High School. Mark graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1979 with a degree in Civil Engineering. His successful 40-year engineering career included positions at Northwest Airlines, HNTB Corporation and American Electric Power.

A memorial service will be held in Bridgman, Michigan at the Weko Beach House on Sunday, October 16 at 12:00 noon with a buffet to follow.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Paul Church, 935 E. State St., Salem Ohio at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 5th.  Burial will follow immediately at Grandview Cemetery, 1399 Franklin Ave., Salem, Ohio.   Following the burial all are welcome to join the family for a celebration at Timberlanes, 544 E. Mark leaves behind to cherish his memories his loving wife of 41 years, Joan Hutson Hurray; two sisters, Mary Jo (Hart) Jacobsen and Barbara (Steve) Hess; one brother, Jack Hurray (Ann); and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Mark will be especially remembered for his loving devotion to his family and friends, his loyalty to his schools and his passion for the Cincinnati Bearcats and the Ohio State Buckeyes.  Mark and Joan loved spending their free time together traveling the world, enjoying outdoor activities and attending many sporting events. Mark’s diplomacy was recognized through his civic activities. This includes the City of Bridgman and the Lakeshore Rotary.  He will always be remembered for his humor, charisma and joy of life.  Mark also spent many hours over the years researching family genealogy, and his findings will be passed down through the generations.

Mark and Joan recently established engineering and nursing scholarships at their alma mater the University of Cincinnati.
