Marilyn Barker

Marilyn (Jotzat) Barker, 74, of Sawyer passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, after a long illness, at River Ridge Manor in Niles.

A private family graveside service will be held.

Marilyn was born December 20, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of the late Heinz and Esther (Puskala) Jotzat. She retired after working over 30 years as a nurse at Shoreham Terrace, now known as, Lakeland Health. Marilyn was a foster parent for over 10 years, as well as an adoptive mom to six children. She was a member of Berrien Springs Senior Center where she enjoyed ceramics and painting classes.

Survivors include her daughter - Christine (Gerald) Weingart of Elkhart, IN; grandsons - Andrew and Benjamin Weingart; sister-in-law, Elaine (Walter) Jotzat of Bridgman; nephews - Stephen (Alecia) Jotzat of Bridgman, Derek Jotzat of Oregon; niece - Susanne (Keith) Kluting of Fennville, MI; two great-nieces; and one great-nephew.

She is also preceded in death by two brothers - Richard and Walter Jotzat.
