Marcella Elaine Reitz, 87, of Bridgman, passed away on Monday, September 13, 2010, at Jordan’s Life Care Center where she has been receiving care for the past four years.

Funeral services will be held 10 AM Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Christ Lutheran Church, 4333 Cleveland Ave., Stevensville with Rev. Phillip G. Quardokus officiating. Friends may meet with the family on Tuesday from 6 - 8 PM at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman. Burial will be in Ruggles Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Christ Lutheran Church.

Marcella was born February 26, 1923 in Baroda the daughter of the late Paul and Elizabeth (Opperman) Trapp. On March 8, 1940 she married Alexander Reitz and he preceded her in death November 5, 2003. She was a bookkeeper for many years at American Laundry and Dry Cleaning in Benton Harbor and the Attorney Firm of Hartwig, Crow and Jones in St. Joseph.

Marcella is survived by daughters, Sandra Schmaltz of Stevensville and Darla (John) Pagel of Bridgman; two sisters - Evelyn Reitz of St. Joseph and Betty (Howard) Gaul of Baroda; two brothers - Charles Trapp and Lamar (Laverne) Trapp of Baroda; twelve grandchildren - Edward (Kerry) Reitz of MA, David (Lisa) Schmaltz of Baroda, Donna (Jon) Winter of Baroda, Steven (Pam) Schmaltz of Sawyer, Scott (Lisa) Schmaltz of Baroda, Bob (DeAnn) Zindler of Bridgman, Craig (Dawn) Reitz of CA, Michael (Jennifer) Zindler of Kalamazoo, Doreen (David) Smith of Bridgman, Clinton (Beth) Pagel of Fort Wayne, IN, Matt (Kathleen) Pagel of DE, Jenna (Chris) Bell of Ann Arbor; and 20 great grandchildren.

Marcella was also preceded in death by a son Edward R. Reitz; son-in-law Alan Schmaltz; two brothers, Harold and Lyman Trapp; and two sisters, Loretta Holcott and Aldythe Zech.
