Lynette Berthel

Lynette C. Berthel (nee Carlson), 81, passed peacefully into her loving Father’s arms on Saturday, August 14, 2010.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, August 18 at Sawyer Highlands Baptist Church 13100 Red Arrow Highway, Sawyer, MI with Reverend Jeff Dryden officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Three Oaks. Friends may meet with the family from 6 - 8 PM Tuesday at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman, MI. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be given to Sawyer Highlands Baptist Church Missions Fund.

Lynn was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 11, 1929 to Frans O. Carlson and Sadie S. Carlson. She was a loving sister to Arlene (Carlson) Goding. She was married to Jarvis Carl “Bud” Berthel on June 9, 1951.

Lynn poured herself into and gave generously of herself to her children, grandchildren, friends, and her church family at Sawyer Highlands Baptist Church. We will miss her dearly.

She is the mother of and survived by Steve (Karen) Berthel of Kalamazoo, MI, Sheryl (Tim) Engebretson of Eden Prairie, MN, Kris (Wade) Mattix of Sheridan, WY, Patty (Peter) Mueller of Chicago, IL, Scott (Sally) Berthel of Dallas, TX, and Jonathan Berthel of Marengo, WI.

She was the absolute coolest grandmother ever to 20 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild!

She was preceded in death by her parents Frans and Sadie, her dear husband and friend Jarvis, and a granddaughter, Sadie.

She has been a resident of Mattoon, IL, Champaign, IL, Kalamazoo, MI, Minnetonka, MN, Portage, MI, and most recently Harbert, MI.
