Ludvik “Lou” Frank Barinka, 97, of Bridgman passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024 at Caretel Inns of St. Joseph. 

 

The family will hold a private time of remembrance and Ludvik will be laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery, Bridgman. Ludvik was born February 5, 1927, in Cicero, IL, the son of the late Ludvik and Marie Barinka, who immigrated from Czechoslovakia in 1921. He spent his early childhood in Cicero while later moving with his family to Baroda. He graduated from Baroda High School. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He was honorable discharge in 1946. After graduating with a chemistry degree from the University of Michigan, he had a successful career in sales in the oil industry. He later received a Master’s Degree from Andrews University and was a math teacher in the Lakeshore School District and was a Principal in the Riverside School District. He was an avid Michigan football fan, a baseball fanatic, a reader and loved dabbling in the stock market.

 

He is survived by his children: Terry (Kim), Lou (Rachelle), Jan (Mark) Booth, Tim (Mary), Shawn (Lisa), Fay (Kevin) Keane, Cathy (David) Schaffer, and Christine (Randy) Shares; 15 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren; a brother: Dr. Larry Barinka.
