Louis S. Hoodwin, 85, of Sawyer, passed away on Monday, December 27, 2010 at his home.

Louis was born July 10, 1925 in Evanston, Illinois, the son of the late H. Jack and Elsa (Cohen) Hoodwin. He was a US Army veteran of WWII. Louis worked for Electro-Voice for 8 years where he invented the modern outdoor speaker system. During the last 50 years he worked as an independent inventor. He invented an accelerometer used by Westinghouse, Fuji Film and Chrysler. Louis was a member of the Lion’s Club.

Survivors include five nieces - Ruth, Rachel, Rebecca, Linda and Ivy; three nephews - Hal, David and Arnold.

Private family services will be held at a later time. The family is being served by Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman.
