Loren Gidley

Loren Gidley, 69, of Stevensville, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph due to complications of a stroke.

A memorial service will be held 6 PM Thursday, March 10, at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman with Rev. Christopher Noffke officiating. Friends may gather with the family prior to the service at the funeral home Thursday from 4-6 PM. Burial will be in Ruggles Cemetery, Baroda. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be given to American Heart Association.

Loren was born May 4, 1941 in Creston, Indiana the son of the late William and Kathleen (Williams) Gidley.

Loren enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid sports fan. He loved woodworking, construction, remodeling and spending time with family, friends and “the coffee group”. Loren graduated from Lowell High School in Indiana and still holds the long jump record set in 1959.

Survivors include his children - Barry (Dawn) Gidley of Baroda, Wendy (Doug) Schultz of Buchanan and Carrie (Brian) Mikesell of Stevensville; seven grandchildren - Travis and Dakota Gidley, Paige and Brock Belanger, Brooke and Brandon Schultz and Riley Mikesell; two great grandchildren - Makenna and Keagan Gidley; a brother - Jon (Sue) Gidley of Minnesota; two sisters - Dorothy (Roger) Parks of Lowell, Indiana and Martha Davis of Caro, Michigan and a sister-in-law - Noelle Gidley of Crown Point, Indiana.

Loren was also preceded in death by a brother, Bob Gidley.
