Loren Charles Essig, 74, of Bridgman passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Northwest Health LaPorte Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 1 PM Monday, August 30, 2021 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 9650 Church Street, Bridgman. Friends may meet with the family from 2 - 4 PM Sunday, August 29 at Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman. Memorial contributions may be given to Bridgman American Legion, Post 331 4241 Legion Street, Bridgman or Berrien County Cancer Service, 3900 Hollywood Road, St. Joseph or Immanuel Lutheran Church. Loren was born January 13, 1947 in St. Joseph, the son of the late Herman and Esther (Nehring) Essig. On July 13, 1968 he married Carol Natzke at Immanuel Lutheran Church and they shared 53 years together. Loren served in the United States Army from 1966-1969 and was a Vietnam Veteran. He retired from Leco Corporation in 2015 after 46 years. Loren enjoyed music, dancing, landscaping and creating gardens.
Loren is survived by his loving wife: Carol; children: Clint (Melissa) Essig and Aran (Eva) Essig; grandchildren: Lindsay Essig, Logan Essig, and Austin Essig; siblings: Herman “Sonny” Essig Jr., Marva Lower, Karen (Dick) Gorske and his brother: Ronald Essig who passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021.
Loren is also preceded in death by his siblings: Marvin Essig, Eunice D’Agostino, and Alan Essig.
