Lola Gampel

Lola Nelda Gampel, 91, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2014 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville.

A memorial service will be held 11 AM Friday, February 7, 2014 at Woodland Shores Baptist Church, 3555 Shawnee Road, Bridgman with Pastor Mark Zubert officiating. Friends may meet with the family from 10 - 11 AM at the church prior to the service and following the service for lunch and a time of sharing. Memorial contributions may be given towards the needs of the family.

Lola was born on April 26, 1922 to the late Ray and Mary Elizabeth (Myers) Murray. On October 23, 1948 she married Gerhardt K. Gampel and he preceded her in death on September 20, 2000. Following her graduation from Twin Cities Business College she worked at West Michigan Electric Supply, now All-Phase Electric. Lola loved to sing and it was the love of her life, from morning until evening she always had a song in her heart.

Survivors include her children - Susan Jones of Sawyer, Judy (Ron) Ackerman of Bridgman, Carl (Finessa) Gampel of Bridgman; grandchildren - Jonathan (Chaeli) Ackerman of Tomball, Texas, Erin (Mark) Zubert of Champlin, Minnesota, Chuck McIlroy, Jr., of Stevensville, Roger Gampel of Golden, Colorado, Kelly Gampel of Homer, Michigan; great grandchildren - Brennan and Brody Ackerman, Westin, Lincoln, and Macy Zubert, Jordan, Owen & Colton McIlroy; and baby Zubert to arrive in April.

Lola was preceded in death by two brothers - Dean and Everett, two sisters - Bernice Murray and Lois Sommer, and a son-in-law: Lowell Jones.
