Leonard Arthur Kolberg, 82, of Hartford passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at his home.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, November 6, at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman with Rev. David Schaller officiating. Burial will be in New Troy Cemetery, New Troy. Friends may meet with the family Thursday from 5 - 8 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Redeemer Lutheran Church, 66325 State Highway 152, Dowagiac, MI 49047.
Leonard was born July 21, 1933 in New Troy, the son of the late Clarence and Anna (Trapp) Kolberg. On July 22, 1954 he married Norma Jean Darnell who preceded him in death on December 29, 2011. In 1952 he joined the US Army. Leonard was always proud that he fought for is country. In 1959 Leonard and Norma Jean bought a 160 acre farm in Hartford. They grew grain crops and raised dairy cows. In his later years Leonard owned his own bulldozer and excavator doing work for others.
Survivors include his children: Vicki (Robert) Sloan of Watervliet, Debra O’Neal of Lawton, Leonard (Rita) Kolberg Jr. of Bangor, Ann (Brian) Larsen of Hagar Shores, Jimmy (Lisa) Kolberg of Lawrence; 15 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Spitzke.
Leonard was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Rick O’Neal; an infant granddaughter; a great-granddaughter; and two brothers, Herman and Elmer.
