Leeana Lou Kuntz, a beacon of kindness and comfort, left us suddenly on June 29, 2024, at the age of 73.
A gathering of family and friends to honor and celebrate Leeana will be held from 1-3 PM, Sunday, October 6, 2024 at the Bertrand Township Fire Department, 4770 US-12, Buchanan. A reading and moment of remembrance will be held at 1:30 PM. Online condolences accepted at www.PikeFH.com
Born in Niles, to Charles and Genevieve Liska. One of 6 children, she was preceded in death by John (Barb) and Cindy (Joe). She has left Charles II (Vickie), Wendy (Tony) and Lori (Mikey) to mourn the loss of their beloved sister.
Leeana graduated from Galien High school and often recalled the glory days of the High School Marching Band and working in the office. She formed a lifelong bond with school friends and cherished her monthly ‘breakfast club’ times with the girls.
On August 15, 1970, she married the love of her life, Michael G. Kuntz. They were ‘setup’ for a mutual friend’s wedding and ended up walking the aisle before them. They had 53 years of love, laughter and challenges together. They attended everything together -- especially the Berrien County Youth Fair where they spent essentially every anniversary. Always together and always in love.
Leeana and Mike were blessed with four children: Michelle (Brian), Mike, Megan (Liz), Mat (Laura) and Sherry -- her bonus daughter lovingly referred to as ‘the favorite daughter”. Her role as a grandmother was beyond compare: Madison, Cora (Chris), Katie, Owen, Hunter, Morgan and Zach each had a close, cherished relationship with their Grandma. Her great granddaughter, Eevany, loved sitting in “Memaw’s” lap and brought a special spark to her eye.
Leeana’s greatest gift was her ability to provide comfort, love and respect at any time. She was a daycare provider for many years, treating every child as her own. The front door was always open, revolving, and the light was always on for friends and relatives alike. In later years she was a caregiver for the elderly, doing the same.
Christmas was a special time during which Leeana would spend countless hours making an absurd number of delicious treats. She was a legendary cook. No one can make chicken and noodles, apple pie, or anything for that matter, as she did. Food was her love language from which family and friends routinely benefited.
Her kind soul and words of wisdom will be carried on through her children, grandchildren, great grandchild and all that were touched by her gentle encouraging spirit. She was the epitome of selflessness, a woman who put others before herself and found her greatest happiness in the happiness of her family. Her family adored her and there are no words to explain how much she will be missed.
She was a child of God and a firm believer that “when it is your time, it is your time”. This is her time. There is no doubt that she is in the warm embrace of those loved ones that have gone before her. She is now pain free and full of love and laughter with them. God definitely gained another angel, and her loving spirit will shine through the countless lives that she has touched.
We will miss you forever, Mom.
Arrangements are entrusted to Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, The Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman.
