It’s with heavy hearts we announce that Larry D. Mathieu, age 73, of Watervliet passed away peacefully on February 18, 2025, after a short battle with cancer.

Friends may meet with the family at the church on Saturday from 12 noon - 1 PM, prior to the service. Following the service you are invited to join the family for a gathering and final toast at the Bridgman American Legion Post 331, 4241 Legion Street, Bridgman. Online condolences accepted at www.PikeFH.com.
Larry was surrounded by his loving family at Michigan Medicine Hospital in Ann Arbor. During his final moments the family takes comfort in knowing he was enveloped in love and support as he transitioned to be with the Lord.
Larry was born November 30, 1951 in St. Joseph. He graduated in 1970 from Bridgman High School. During his high school years, he was an avid athlete who participated in football, baseball, and basketball. He found immense joy in competing with his teammates. Overall, Larry’s time as a student-athlete not only fostered lifelong friendships but also instilled a strong work ethic that he carried into adulthood. He worked at Bosch as an electrician for several decades. Throughout his tenure, he was responsible for troubleshooting electrical issues, performing routine maintenance, and performing upgrades to the machinery. After years of hard work and dedication, he retired in 2013.
Larry was a dedicated member of the Bridgman American Legion Post 331, where he found friendship among fellow members who shared his passions. Being an avid outdoorsman, he relished every opportunity to hunt and fish. His adventures were often shared with his buddies, known as the “Boat Brothers” with whom he forged lasting friendships. Larry was also a faithful Detroit Lions fan.
Larry’s personality shone through in his interactions, with his quick wit and humorous anecdotes. Gatherings were never dull when Larry was around, as he always had a funny comment ready to entertain both family and friends.
He is survived by the love of his life, Michele Troyer; his mother, Leona (Jasper) Mathieu; his siblings: James A. Mathieu, Marcia (Jim) Baker, and Sharon (Joe) McCoy; one stepson, Robbie; one grandson, Mathieu; and loving nephews: Walter, Cody, David, Danny and Zac.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter “Wally” Mathieu.
Arrangements are entrusted to Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, The Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman.
