Larry D. Mathews

Larry D. Mathews, 71, of Stevensville passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at his home.

Larry was born on January 30, 1952 in Galesburg, IL the son of DuWayne and Aileen (Kirtley) Mathews. Larry grew up on a farm and small town before graduating from Western Illinois University. Following college, Larry moved to the Chicago area working in banking, for Air Canada then ventured into business ownership of a successful floral and gift store. After enjoying a vacation home in western Michigan along the lake for many years, a permanent move was made to Stevensville where he and partner Rick Kobler operated Ricky’s restaurant for 13 years. Larry’s favorite job was as “Cat Dad” to numerous kitties especially his beloved Leo and Sammie.

Survivors include his mother: Aileen Mathews; sister: Carol Eaves and numerous friends and neighbors.

Larry was also preceded in death by his father: DuWayne Mathews; and his partner: Rick Kobler.
