Kenneth James Ackerman, 84, of Bridgman peacefully passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Hanson Hospice Center.
Cremation has taken place and the family will be remembering Kenneth privately. Memorial contributions may be given to Pacific Garden Mission, 1458 South Canal Street, Chicago, IL 60607. Online condolences accepted at www.PikeFH.com.
Kenneth was born on February 6, 1938 in Lake Township, the son of the late Joseph and Frieda (Markwart) Ackerman. In 1962, he married Bonnie Vette and they were married for 40 years. Kenneth attended Moody Bible Institute and graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a Masters of Arts in Education. Kenneth was a lifelong educator. He was a Civil Air Patrol Chaplain with the rank of Major. He was also a certified Chaplain with Chaplain Fellowship Ministries and enjoyed ministering to people in his community.
Survivors include children: Claire (Jerry) Schupbach, David (Lauren) Ackerman, Andrew (Kendra) Ackerman; daughter-in-law: Mitzi Ackerman; grandchildren: Dawn (Jeff) Johnson, Bradley (Jennie) Schupbach, Anders, Katrinca, and Sydney Ackerman; great grandchildren: Ilona and George Schupbach and Noah and Jaron Johnson; brother: Ronald (Judy) Ackerman; and spiritual brother: Leon Klint.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his ex-wife: Bonnie; a son: Nathan Ackerman and a sister: Carol Copeland.
Arrangements are entrusted to Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, The Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman.
