Joyce Elizabeth Groh, 96, went home to be with her Lord on March 9, 2013 at the Country Manor in Bridgman.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, March 18, 2013 at Woodland Shores Baptist Church, 3555 Shawnee Road, Bridgman with Reverend Win Decker officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may meet with the family Sunday from 2-4 PM at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman. Memorial contributions may be given to Woodland Shores Baptist Church.
Joyce was born to the late Adolf and Elizabeth (Ketelhut) Mathieu on October 1, 1916, in St. Joseph, Michigan. She married Bertram Groh on June 21, 1941 and together they shared 64 years of marriage until his death, December 11, 2005. Joyce graduated from St. Luke's Hospital in Chicago and was a registered nurse. Joyce loved her Lord, her family and many friends. She liked to play bridge, golf, and loved to read. She will be always remembered for her smile and will be dearly missed.
Survivors include - son, Gary (Fay) Groh; daughter - Gail (Honorable Rudy) Nichols; grandchildren - Drs. Jason (Kelly) Nichols, Jodie (Johnny) Powers, Gretchen Groh, Geoff Groh, and Susie (Scott) Nehls; great grandchildren - Braden and Cullan Nichols, Jacoby, Jackson and Jay Powers, and Owen Nehls; sisters-in-law: Geneva and Leona Mathieu; and also had many nieces and nephews.
Joyce was also preceded in death by four brothers - Adolf Jr., Victor, Jack and Walter Mathieu.
