Joseph Kamp, 65, of Bridgman passed away on October 12, 2011 at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI from injuries sustained in a tragic accident in Eau Claire, MI.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2011 from 2 - 5 PM at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman, MI. Funeral Services will be held 11:30 AM on Monday, October 17, 2011 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, corner of Lake and Church Street, Bridgman, MI with Pastor Jon Bendewald officiating. Burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery in Bridgman. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bridgman, MI.

Joe was born on January 11, 1946 in Benton Harbor, MI to Joseph M. and Virginia R. (Panzer) Kamp. He was a graduate of “Thee Class” of 1964 from Bridgman High School, attended Michigan State University and was a certified tool and die engineer. Joe was the co-owner and president of Hermel Die Casting in Eau Claire, MI and Kamp Mini Storage in Bridgman and New Buffalo, MI. Joe was a very loving, caring, and generous son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, employer, and friend to many. He was a devoted member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, enthusiastically attended his grandchildren’s sporting events, was a true orange and blue Bridgman Bee thru and thru, was well known for his poetry, loved music, dancing, telling stories and working outdoors and on lawns with all his equipment, had an infectious laugh and smile, and was always there when you needed him. Joe will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Joe is survived by his wife of 46 years, Susan E. (Decker); his children - Mark Joseph Kamp and Kimberly Sue Kamp (both of Bridgman); his parents - Joseph M. and Virginia R. Kamp of Bridgman; brothers - Donald A. (Diana) Kamp of Stevensville, and Kenneth W. Kamp of Baroda; sister - Suzanne (Jon) Malm of Bridgman; grandchildren - Emily Kamp, Michael Kamp, and Jackson Kamp and their mother Joellen Kamp of Bridgman; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
