John James Ster, Jr., 88, of Stevensville passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015 at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 AM Monday, February 9, 2015 at St. Joseph Parish, 211 Church Street, St. Joseph, with Father Thomas McNally officiating. Friends may meet with the family from 9 - 10 AM before the Mass at the church. Burial will be at the Cemetery of the Resurrection in St. Joseph. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be given towards the needs of the family.
John was born March 29, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of the late John Sr. and Anna (Zabloudel) Ster. John served in the United States Army during WWII. He retired after 40 years of service as an inspector at Whirlpool. John was a member of the Stevensville American Legion Post 568, as well as the Bohemian Club in Baroda. He was a member of St. Joseph Parish. On October 16, 1948 he married Anna Vergot and she preceded him in death September 6, 1994. He married Geraldine Stama on October 25, 1997 and she preceded him in death on July 2, 2008.
Survivors include a daughter Rosanne (Ronald) Bammann of Stevensville; a daughter-in-law: Nikki Ster of St. Joseph; and four grandchildren.
John was also preceded in death by a son John James Ster III on November 29, 2014; a sister, Blance Pollo and a brother Eugene Ster.
