John Bednar

John Raymond Bednar, 85, of Bridgman, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Hanson Hospice Center, Stevensville.

Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 AM Tuesday, November 20, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 3903 Lake Street, Bridgman with Father Arthur Howard as celebrant. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Bridgman. Friends may meet with the family from 10-10:45 am Tuesday, prior to the Mass at Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, the Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman.  Memorial contributions can be made to Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church or Hospice at Home, 4025 Health Park Ln, St Joseph, MI 49085. John was born December 3, 1932 in Whiting, IN the son of the late John and Catherine (Fellner) Bednar. On May 5, 1956 he married Janet Liesenfelt. John was a US Army veteran and enjoyed fishing and traveling.  John was a manager at the downtown Chicago Social Security Administration office.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Janet; four sons: James (Marcia) Bednar, John  (Margaret) Bednar, Joseph (Catherine) Bednar and Jeff (Dulce) Bednar; 11 grandchildren and one great grandson.

John was also preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
